How can frequent travelers, maintain a strict, healthy diet while traveling? Well, I’m not going to lie, its not always easy, but with a few quick tips anyone can keep up their health and nutrition goals on any flight. The most difficult part is most airline carriers give out some pretty unhealthy snacks in economy, and unlimited amounts of garbage bad snacks on business, from chips, candy, and other junk food FULL of sugar and carbs…

If you are like me, and have a big sweet tooth, AND want to stay healthy, you MUST start: BYOS on your next flight. Bring Your OWN SNACKS. Otherwise, each time that stewardess comes around you’ll be eating up whatever they have, and a full hours later you have enough sugar for 6 days. Luckily I have spent years finding the BEST alternatives sweets, that are low-sugar, easy to pack and snack, and you can order online.

snacks

For the last few years, these are the staple items that I bring with me on every flight, and they help me get away from all those unhealthy snacks. And if you know me, you know I LOVE sweets, so trust me you’re gonna love these items 😉

What I bring

I bring: 1) Healthy candy (sugar-free without artificial sweeteners that use Monk Fruit or Stevia) This will help you skip all the other sweets that come your way 2) Protein for this, I take Turkey meat sticks, these are great on the plane or when I am about and around and can not stop for some food 3) Chocolate, Of course, also sugar-free. I have tried a bunch these brands, and while Lily’s really started this trend, there is one new one that is also great!  4) other items – fruit from lounges that’s free 😉

Candy

For Candy, there are two brands I really like. SmartSweets, and Project 7. (I have tried a lot of things while traveling and these two brands are great. You can buy them online. I order a box, and they last a couple of flights.

Chocolate

For chocolate, Lily’s is a great brand using stevia. I like the Creamy Milk Chocolate bars and the Cookies and Cream one:

However, another great Chocolate brand is ChocZero. It has bars with Almonds and bars with Hazelnut. AND… one of my favorite items is the white chocolate peanut butter cups. These can really change your life! Amazing! They are the very last picture!

 Protein

For protein, beef sticks and jerky are a great low-fat, high protein portable snack. (I currently do not eat beef, but I think these Turkey sticks are even more healthy). I have tried many Turkey sticks, and jerky products and I like this brand more than all others. In fact, when my local grocery store ran out, I bought their whole supply when they finally re-stocked 🙂 … “Vermont Smoke and Cure” is the brand I get. Taste great, has 9 grams of protein, and is ready anytime.

Check future post for snacks to travel with from Europe and Asia, and… for staying healthy, don’t forget to bring those running shoes with you. My number one favorite: ChocZero Peanut butter cups a clear winner!
