Welcome to Quito one of the highest elevation cities in the world, right in the middle of the Andes mountains at 2,850m above sea level (9,350′). This city has great history and a well preserved colonial section from the 16th and 17th century. If you get a chance head up Teleferico and really take in some of the views. With many different neighborhoods and sections, this city of 2 million+ people has new and modern areas, as well has beautiful historic sections.
North of old town called (new town) is also a nice area, called “Mariscal Sucre” neighborhood. Here you will find the business/finance district and a wonderful area called La Carolina named after the huge city park. La Carolina and Iñaquito, a newer area that is being develop with great real-estate, are my favorite places to stay. For this post, I will focus on the major hotels in La Carolina, as these are the ones I recommend for first timers to Quito, and its where I always book my stay.

Sheratonin Quito, a place in the middle of the city where luxury and comfort meet. The state-of-the-art exercise center has a variety of machines for people who want to stay active, as well as a sauna and steam room to help them relax. In our on-site wellness center, you can swim in our indoor pool or get a spa massage.
The food at La Hacienda and Bistro Latino, two of our on-site restaurants, is delicious and is based on local flavors as well as foreign favorites. And if you want a drink, head to our bar where they make handcrafted cocktails, serve good wines, and have a great view of the city.
One great feature of the JW is number of meeting and event rooms for business visitors, including a grand ballroom that can hold up to 1,200 people. No matter how big or small your event is, there staff is ready to help you plan and run it. I have done a meeting of about 40 before, and also small conference with about 5, both were great.

So where to I stay, Honestly, I just came back from there a few days ago, and I booked my usually, Sheraton Quito. This hotel, is a bit nicer then Dan Carlton, and Le Parc, AND it is a better location, being at the end of the street on El Salvador. I absolutely love this location, and have stayed here more then 15 times.
